About the Math Department
The Math Department at UCCS is committed to providing students with a superior education in mathematics and related fields.
Our faculty are dedicated to advancing the field of mathematics and equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve their future goals.
Math Course Placement
To start your math journey at UCCS, you will need to submit test scores (from ACT, SAT, or AP tests), submit high school transcripts with a benchmark GPA, or take the Accuplacer test for free at UCCS (click here to sign up). You can find more information about math placement here:
The UCCS Department of Mathematics offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Undergraduate majors may choose one of the following specialized tracks:
- Pure Mathematics
- Applied Mathematics
- Secondary Teaching
The Accelerated Master's Program allows students to earn both Bachelor's and a Master's degree in five years.
The Department provides minors in mathematics and statistics and a MathOnline program, which allows high school and other students to earn credit for UCCS courses remotely.
The Graduate program offers the following degree options:
- Master of Science (MS): focused on mathematics and applied mathematics
- Master of Sciences (MSc): a cross-disciplinary focus
- PhD of Applied Science in Mathematics (PhD): Doctoral students can specialize in any of the research areas represented in the Department.
UCCS will be hosting the 2023 Colorado Nonlinear Days Conference on April 29th and 30th.
